Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then found many other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important representative said the attack rendered him without words and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
